The article examines the main stages of the development of the higher education in Ukraine on the background of the intensifi cation the processes of the world knowledge network, especially after the entry of our country in the sphere of world market economy. They are defi ned as: 1) the emergence of world religions at the beginning of a new era of chronology; 2) the emergence of the fi rst universities in the early second millennium, which helped to overcome the limitations of traditional national, professional practices; 3) the emergence of new information and communication systems (networks) of computer technology in the late second or third millennium, which allowed to conduct interactive, transactional communication. The phenomena, that appear under the ambiguous infl uence of information technologies and are typical for European countries, are observed in their historical sequence. The advantages and defects of the processes of knowledge globalization are revealed in the article. The idea of the necessity to follow the own historical and spiritual way of Ukraine on the national basis is emphasized. The author noted that it is exploring the cognitive potential of certain set of humanities and sciences, increasing the educational content of humanitarian component that will help young specialists to master an integrative, system approach for studying society and applying it in their future careers.
